We are getting a new puppy. My existing lab is one year old. My question is when I bring my new puppy home what precautions do We need to take while I take my one year-old lab out for walks? Or do we keep the 1 year old home until the pup is fully vaccinated? We walk miles several times a day in the hills, on horse trails and in parks (not dog parks). We want to avoid bringing home Parvovirus.
Until my puppy had second shots, per my breeder as an extra precaution I wiped my older dog’s paws off before coming back in the house after walks. We spent a lot more time playing in the yard instead of walks for the first few weeks.
