Have 13mo old lab. Healthy energetic but all of a sudden pick. Was on purina pro plan large breed puppy from breeder until about a month ago. Mixed to change with purina pro plan lamb rice like our other 2 labs. Liked it until about a week ago now turns nose up. I was adding treats to get to eat. So put him back on puppy food bc it says u can do up to 2 yrs. Kind of ate it would grab piece drop on floor eat etc but not all. Backs away from dish sometimes does not seem intrested. Ate bit better in eve vs am. This am ate 1/2 "cup wet food but tool half hour to do that. Gave no treats when I left for work and told hubby to exercise him when he gets home and no treats. Any ideas kinda frustrated. Dont want him to starve. Im.sure adding treats to get to eat did not help. Is this a phase. Will leave on puppy food now till 2.
He won't starve! If he doesn't eat, take the food up and try again in the evening, if he's hungry he'll eat. Also, maybe try a different bowl or feed on a tray. Something may have happened to put him off eating out of that particular bowl?
Thank you. He ate better last nite about 1.5 cups kibble and some wet food. This AM he did about 1.25 cups and some wet food. Withheld all treats except for half a milk one and exercising later to work up appetite.
