Sorry I seem to be full of questions at the moment....here we go Since Poppy has been spayed 3 weeks ago her lead behaviour has got worse and worse, She is pooing more now than before the op, now its 3 times a day always used to be twice a day she seems to struggle slightly, gets quite agitated and takes ages on finding a suitable place to go and once she goes, which is normal not runny she turns on me growling jumping grabbing the lead etc any advice at all on this, i thought it might be hurting her?? should I take her to the vets???
Re: Me Again I've never had a female dog so haven't gone through the spay. It does sound like there's something going on, though - hopefully someone with more experience can chime in soon.
Re: Me Again Over the years I have had five bitches spayed and never known it to change their behaviour in any way or their bowel habits! As Poppy did have a bit of a problem after her spay, I would take her back to the vet just to be on the safe side.
Re: Me Again Hi Lois, so sorry to hear you are still having problems. Are you able to do many training sessions with her on the lead apart from just walks? If so, how are those going?
Re: Me Again Could the growling and lead jumping be that she has lots of pent up energy from not being let of the lead since the spay. As for bowels, i can't help there, i would suggest getting her checked over by the vet
Re: Me Again If she's feeling a bit tender still, I'd ask your vet about stool softeners perhaps. Make it a bit easier for her to go. We've only ever had one female spayed, which was Charlie, quite recently, and after a couple of days on the sofa she was fine. There has been no change in her behaviour, or toilet habits what so ever.
Re: Me Again Same here with Lady. Backto her usual self after a couple of days. So defo back to vet for advice is my vote.
Re: Me Again After two days of fighting on our walks and me ending in tears.....I took Poppy to the vets this morning, she cleared her anal glands yuk and thinks that might be the problem...but im to keep an eye on her Poo colour it was a bit darker than normal this morning, although she is as lively as normal, I have brought a head collar as well see if that helps the snapping and grabbing etc fed up with having scratched hands from very sharp teeth!!! So fingers crossed and some serious training MUST take place...bexause she comes to work with me everyday she really does her own thing whilst I am busy so to be fair not much training gets done!!! My fault I know...
Re: Me Again Hoping it was her glands Lois and that her habits will soon return to normal , oh they are a worry, I`ve got this to go through in about a months time
