Hi we are getting our first puppy in a couple of weeks -a black lab who will be 8 weeks old. Do people recommend starting with a collar and lead or a harness initially? I have read conflicting advice. Thanks
I would definitely say collar and lead. You have a good couple of weeks to teach her where 'heel' is with out a lead initially, then with the lead attached, practising in your home and garden. If you teach heel from day one, you can see the lead as a seat belt- you hope you won't need it, but it's there just in case.
