I have a 9 month old fox red lab who eats very little, she walks away from her kibble and we end up basically feeding her by hand when out walking to get her to eat about 300gms. She has had blood tests and x ray but nothing seems to be wrong however we are at a loss as to what to do the get her to eat Do you put her food down and if she walks away just lift it and put it back down later? with no treats etc in between Is it as simple as she will eat eventually when hungry enough? Appreciate any advice Linda
She has been doing this for a couple of weeks now, ever since she finished her 1st heat cycle, don't know if this is a factor! Body condition is good, vet quite happy she is still gaining weight etc, but it's a worry and not what i expect from a lab pup
As their growth slows down, so does their food intake requirement. If her body condition score is good, I would not be worried. Pop her food down, if she doesn't eat it, take it up and offer it at the next meal. I have 5 labs and only one of them will 'self regulate'. Some do, most don't
