    Hi,

I have recently rescued a female lab who will be 10 in March. She is booked in for dental surgery in 2 weeks after noticing issues with her teeth. I also noticed when we got her sometimes after lying down after exercise she would limp on her back leg , I mentioned this to vet who said was likely arthritis and recommend yumove tablets.

I have now noticed one of her hocks is larger than the other. It feels like solid bone and she lets me move her leg and press it with no issues. Apart from the limping occasionally she is fine , chases her ball and loves walks. I just wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar? It’s hard because I do not have any of her previous history.

If the hock has enlarged since your last vet visit, I would be tempted to take her back to the vet and request an x-ray.

Well done for taking on an older rescue dog.
Assuming she isn’t in a lot of pain and as you already have an appointment which will mean her being sedated, I would ask them to examine her fully then and take X-rays.

Thanks guys that’s my plan , to ask them to check her whilst she’s in getting her dental.

I have her on yumove tablets in mean time , I honestly couldn’t say if it has just become enlarged, the limping has been for a while but not all the time and then noticed the size difference in the last week.

Ive seen a few comments about a hock being larger so was just wondering if anyone had any previous experience with this

What did the hock enlargement end up being? We just went to the vet for the same thing a week ago and it's arthritis. 8 year/6 month old lab. Still active but I'm being mindful.
