My wife is taking off for a month. Her absence leaves me and my 18 month old chocolate lab, Titus, home with me. Titus is a daddy’s boy but he does have a close relationship with mommy. We do have another dog in the house. What should I expect out of my dogs behavior? How can I counteract separation anxiety when only one of us is gone for an extended period of time. My wife and I will be routinely talking on video chat. Will this help? Look forward to some advice on that first night without mommy and onward.

The thing my dog misses most is the routine that changes, not our presence as such. My husband takes her out last thing and she gets unsettled when I do it earlier when he is away. Maybe look at what your wife does for your dog, and start taking over some of that responsibility before she goes.
