Hi any help would be appreciated, I’m exhausted, we got Fred 2 weeks ago he is a lab / cocker spaniel mix from a very experienced breeder, he was quite for a few days settling in to his new surroundings, but has really took over now I work from home so have been giving him all my time, if I’m not with him I’m ready articles and watching training videos as I’ve took time off work to help settle him in, must admit I’m a bit overwhelmed with it all, I’m crate training and potty training I’m taking him out of his crate hourly and most of the time he is going outside to wee and poop , apart from overnight when I don’t shut the crate door as I’m scared he can’t hold it for long so usually come into the kitchen to find a couple of wees and poops, my issue why I’m so overwhelmed at the minute is that he is literally sleeping for 1 hour waking for 1 hour throughout the day but I’m finding that the hour he is awake after only 10 mins he is overwhelmed and overstimulated he is racing around doing the zoomies, banging into everything biting, nipping won’t be held and when trying to calm him in my arms just becomes wriggly to the point I’m putting him down as I don’t want to drop him, he is so excited he isn’t really interested in eating or drinking so I generally hand feed him when he is in his crate, I know he calms down in his crate and he more often than not settles after a few minutes, just wondering if anyone has any ideas as I don’t want him just living in his crate I am eager to start training him and having some nice awake time with him

    Hi Jennifer,

    Welcome to the forum :)

The early puppy stages are pretty gruelling - it can be hard to believe any good is going to come at the end of it! But it does sound like you're going through completely normal puppy behaviours. Take a look at the puppy area on our Labrador Site for lots of resources to help you navigate the coming weeks.
