We are looking for answers after the sudden death of our apparently very healthy Labrador bitch. She passed away in her sleep during the early hours of last Friday. She hadn't eaten anything, showed no symptoms or signs of distress. She passed her six month health check at the vets with flying colours. Researching online has revealed heart problems or cancer as a possible cause. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

Really sorry to hear this. It must be very hard for you with no answers. If you put “sudden death” into the search bar at the top(magnifying glass) other threads will come up as I remember some recently.

I have a friend who lost a young Lab this way a few years ago. They never knew exactly why.

Thank you for replying. Researching online has revealed this condition does happen although thankfully very rare. Vets say dogs are at their most vulnerable between birth and two years. Having said that, my vet experienced exactly the same with an eight year old collie. The pm was inconclusive.
