What have you all found the most effective in terms of recall training?
I’ve got a five month old lab x retriever who’s been off lead from day one (soon as allowed out) and have reinforced recall constantly using a whistle, she’s been pretty good as they often are at that age.
Just been away on holiday and she went deaf quite frequently whilst off lead so I obviously need to up the ante!

Hiya, welcome to the forum :)

We've got a wealth of recall articles on our main site. Here is a good place to start. It sounds like she's starting to enter adolescence - it's not unusual for their recall response to get less reliable in this period, and I think the most important thing is to set her up to succeed (only use your recall cue when she's already running towards you), protect your cue (don't use it when she is distracted by something else, or if you're anything less than 99.9% certain she's going to respond correctly), and manage all the situations where you can't rely on her recall response by popping her on a long line.

Adolescence isn't forever, so hang in there and she'll regain her hearing eventually!
