    Hi

We will be getting our first dog/lab soon and intend to crate train. How do you know when they have “outgrown” the crate and will just sleep on a dog bed in the house? And how do you transition to this from the crate? Is it just remove the crate or more complicated than that?

And in the morning, our daughter often gets up in the early hours climbs in with us and goes back to sleep but our house is old and creaks so am sure this would wake the puppy/dog and they will whine or bark? Should I just ignore this and eventually they will learn to ignore the creaks and go back to sleep?

Finally, some nights my husband has work events and comes home much later than I would be putting the puppy to bed. The place she will sleep is close enough to the front door that it would wake her in her crate. What should he do? Greet her and then put her back or just ignore? And if he greets her should he take her out to the toilet again?

We are complete novices so any advice welcome. Thank you.
