I haven’t posted in a very long time, and Ted is now almost 7.5 years old he’s been a joy that whole time ( apart from the first few days when he hated being alone at night). He’s recently been diagnosed with this nasty condition and is in the early days of treatment. It’s not life-limiting, but definitely life-changing. It’s relatively rare, and vets tend to see no more than 10 cases a year at most, and their advice is pretty hesitant and unsure. So I wonder if anyone else has experience of this condition linked to the immune system, in their own Lab. If so I’d love some advice on managing care of paws and nails, as well as when it’s likely we might get to walk in the park again. Plus any tips that may not be out there - for example are Epsom Salts foot baths worthwhile? I hope there’s at least one person with a bit of experience with SLO, but if like me you’re the owner of a newly diagnosed Lab, maybe we could help prop each other up.
Hi I don’t have any experience of this condition but have had to give foot baths in the past to a dog who hates having his feet touched. Solution was a Licki Mat with peanut butter on the fridge door at his head height, towel on the floor and a washing up bowl with the solution. I would do two at a time and it was very successful. Good luck going forward.
