It's been a while since posting on this Forum. Hope everyone is well during this challenging time with Covid. Sophie had knee (TPLO) surgery on September 28th. It's been a while since she has visited LTC facilities or visited with children because of this and Covid. She is now 9 1/2 weeks post op and will be supporting the Covid-19 (5-11 yrs age group) Vaccine Clinic in our community Dec 7, 8 & 9. Hopefully to help the children who are fearful of injections. This is a big step in getting our children vaccinated moving forward through this pandemic. She has missed the seniors/children so much. This is her first visit/event since her surgery. Well done both of you! How did it go? Does Sophie have antlers for the holidays? Johnny is going on 18 months out from TPLO, left first and then right a few months later. He's doing wonderfully.
Sophie does have antler ears, but she prefers to wear a candy colored scarf with her Therapy Dog bandana Wow - poor Johnny having both legs requiring surgery. Glad to hear he's doing well. I've heard that once your dog has one side done; the 2nd one will have to be done eventually. Hope not, but if we do for sure we'll have it done. You have two labs; looking at your profile picture?
The ligament problem is a degenerative disease and the vets (here) told me the other side would likely tear. None of us were expecting the other knee to go 4 months after the TPLO. I do have two lab mixes but no decent picture of them both. I need to take some. Maggie, age 3 yrs, is the brown lump on the right. She's about 73 lbs to Johnny's 85.
They're so cute; bet they get along really well. I/we really hope Sophie's other leg doesn't require the same surgery.
Haven't been here for a long time again. Sophie is doing very well; she turned 11 in January. She had knee surgery in Sept 2021 on her back left. To date she is running/playing very well. No signs of the right back being an issue. Try to keep weight gain in check with lots of daily long walks. Sophie is still doing her Therapy Dog duties.
Sophie recovered well from her TPLO surgery back in 2021. Unfortunately April 2024 she started limping; her back hind leg; same problem. She's now 12 yrs 9 mos and we opted no surgery as her age and don't want to put her under. She's on daily Meloxicam and 1/2 glucosamine pill. Some days she limps more than others. But still enjoys life, healthy appetite, swimming. We now use a portable ramp for her to go in/out of our trailer when camping. I also retired her from Therapy Work May 1st. Think she deserves to enjoy retirement and do whatever/whenever she wants.

Thanks for sharing this update - what an amazing career Sophie has had, bringing joy to countless people ❤️❤️❤️
