My beloved Brewster has just been diagnosed with Kidney Failure. We would never have known, but a random blood test showed extremely high levels in his blood. Are there options other than dialysis. I am fully aware it is not curable. Waiting to find out today on tests to see what stage he is at. Once we know that we can make decisions. TIA

Yes, there are supplements that reduce uremic toxins and phosphorus, you should also change the dog's diet. Fluids also help flush the kidneys. Your vet should suggest a treatment plan. I don't know about dialysis, if it's even available for dogs, but even if it is, I bet it costs a fortune.
Thank you. We lost Brewster. He had to be assisted over the Rainbow bridge. His diagnosis was too late. Due to having no symptoms and regular visits to the vets we had no idea he was so sick. You'd never have known. Bless you.
