Our dog Oscar has just reached 6 years old. He’s been on Hill’s Science Plan kibble all his life and we’ve just switched him to the Mature Dog version. Just after we’d started to ease him on to the new food, he seemed to be weeing much more and one day last week, he had a huge accident whilst we were out for just an hour or so. In fact it seemed as thought there were three separate puddles. He’s never had an accident like this since we’ve owned him - just a couple of small puddles when we first had him at 8 weeks. His behaviour otherwise is quite normal and he doesn’t seem to be having any health problems. Just his same old self and with no recurrence of the accident last week although we do make sure to let him out into the garden if we’re going to leave him for any time.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this connected with a change of food?

Hi Graham, there are lots of possible causes for changes in bladder habits - and some can need urgent medical treatment, so it's important to discuss this with your vet if you haven't already. Hopefully they will be able to set your mind at rest that this was just a random one off - new kibble making him more thirsty perhaps - but it's important to have that chat first ❤️
