Hi I am considering a Labrador and I've always wondered what the difference is between them and Golden retriever's apart from coat and colours as they always seem so similar and I have experience with Goldens how similar are labradors and how different are they?
Like chalk and cheese in my experience. Goldens are more like giant spaniels. Labradors are much easier to train for gundog work. There's very few competing at top level, though the ones that are are epic!
I don't think I'd say goldens are anything like spaniels they definitely don't have there energy levels and most goldens I've know are a lot calmer than Spaniels but I've only know show and duel purpose lines. I am thinking of getting a lab as they have always appealed to me more especially black labs are stunning and wondered how similar or different they are.
