Re: Bones for 5 month old pup....... Hiya there! Sounds nice..... I would probably opt for a kong rather than a bone, but thats only because I know Lilly is less likely to make a mess with a stuffed and frozen kong than a bone. And also because a decent chunk of meaty bone can take her several hours of single-minded determined chewing, which can be noisy, and can be a right pain to extricate from her if need be. As far as which type of bone generally, I just ask my butcher for a meaty bone for the dog! Get a variety of different types. Only thing I would say is uncooked (!) and keep supervised! jac
Re: Bones for 5 month old pup....... If it's indoors then I definitely agree with the Kong suggestion Or a rawhide chew or bully stick (bull pizzle). Maybe take a few different things so you have a good stack of ammunition
Re: Bones for 5 month old pup....... Not sure the country pub would enjoy a raw, meaty bone being eaten on the carpet, or indeed a frozen kong which will gradually defreeze! A stuffed Kong however, is a good idea and you could always bring a tube of cheese and smear some of it into the Kong throughout the meal to keep his interest.
Re: Bones for 5 month old pup....... Thats a good point about the frozen Kong Stacia. I usually stuff mine with frozen banana and peanut butter which might be ok (especially with Lilly the hoover) but if you use soggy kibble or use stock/liquid it may well defrost onto the carpet
