We have 2 labs. A yellow female named Daizy and a black male named Jaxson. They are 10 weeks old and we have had them for 3 weeks now. They are doing really well. They sit, come and stay. They are almost potty trained. Just random accidents here and there which are our fault. Our only "problem" which really isn't a problem is that Jaxson wakes up throughout the night about every 2-3 hours. We have them crated separately. I'm just wondering if he would sleep longer if we let them sleep together?? We have read that it's important to raise them separately so they can be individuals and attach to us and not only each other. I would say they are very attached to us. They are happy to see us when we come home and they play with us separately by choice during the day. They choose to be with us and not just with each other. Just looking for some opinions from people who have experience with raising litter mates. I've read so many negative things about it but we love dogs and love these pups. Thanks in advance for any advice!

When you say they are crated separately, are their crates then together in the same room? If their crates are in the same room together, then I'd be tempted just to wait it out until Jaxson starts sleeping better. I wouldn't want them in together at this stage just in case there was any unsuitable play going on that you are obviously not there to supervise. I haven't raised litter mates - someone else will probably along who can give you a more specific answer, but whenever we've introduced a new pup it an adult dog, they have been together in the kitchen but with the pup crated, so they have the company, but can't get up to any mischief. As adults, they have then chosen to settle down together.

    Hi

I have two brothers who will be 3 in January.

They both sleep in the same kennel and during the day if I'm busy they are in their pen together.

I've had no problems with this.

I think as long as you train them separately and do things with them separately so they don't get dependent on each other it should be fine.

You can't stop them bonding with each other but as long as they bond with you which it sounds like they have it should be ok.

Obviously they will have to be separated when she comes into season.

    Have fun ;D
