Re: Of to the vets I know barley is only five annabelle but it could be arthritis. My friends dog is the same age. She was diagnosed with arthritis when she was three and she gets worse in winter. It's like with humans the cold and damp makes it worse. At least once you've had the tests you'll know what it is and the vet can give barley the right treatment and he can get back to having lots of fun. Jen
Re: Of to the vets Well as an update it is 3 1/2 weeks until he gets his x-rays and we can finally get some results and get him treated appropriately. He has good days and bad days, some days its his backs legs that are sore others it his front leg so still not right. We are going to ask to get all 4 legs x-rayed to rule out other problems with his other front leg, and to see what is going on with all 4 of his legs. Would rather do it all in one instead of a few months down the line having to go back for front leg x-rays if we only done his back legs this time
Re: Of to the vets Hmm....is it your choice or their choice having to wait so long? Still seems an age - particularly with Barley's track record
Re: Of to the vets
Thank you julie, i know that this is not half as bad as what youare going through with charlie. but it is still a worry when he is not well.
No - after the shock of finding out it was serious (but the relief it could be fixed) it was better than not knowing. Getting a programme of what you've got to do to make things better is the key to being on the up. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Keep that weight off Barley!

Still seems an age - particularly with Barley's track record
Parents choice, mainly because he has to be at the vets early in the morning and it is a good 45 min drive to the main practice and both parents have to be at work early and they can not drop him off at the vets in the morning and the vets do not open Saturdays. It is half term that week so both me and dad are off, that also means that i can give him extra TLC the day after his x-rays
I don't like the not knowing what is wrong with him, as he hides his pain well so could be in a lot more pain than he is telling us, and some days he does tell us, but others he does not. Oh yes, he is almost always on a diet and having his weight watched, he is due for a weigh in soon then his food can be adjusted accordingly, he has lost a lot over the past few weeks from me being very strict with his rations, something he did not like :
Re: Of to the vets Roll on getting a diagnosis - fingers crossed here. I agree its much better having a name to pin things on than constantly thinking *could it be this, could it be that?* When are your exams Annabelle?

I agree its much better having a name to pin things on than constantly thinking *could it be this, could it be that?* When are your exams Annabelle?
They start in May through to the end of June, i even have exams on my birthday . Not long to go if i really think about it, scary. Last week we had our mock exams, got some good results, some ok, and the rest not had the results back yet. The only thing i learned that week is that i love study leave ;D
Re: Of to the vets
You aren't on study leave ALL the way through from now are you?!
No sadly :'( Study leave starts in May when the first exams start, but it does mean that we get a 10 week summer holiday instead of a 6 week one as we have the whole of july off ;D
Re: Of to the vets
FAR too long in my opinion Is it A levels you are doing or Os?
O's but in current speaking they are called GCSE's, have no idea what it stands for but but that's what they are called
Re: Of to the vets can relate to that at least Up here we now have "National 5s" which are old Scottish Credit Level OGrades, which is just not quite as high as O Levels. Then Highers which are "almost" A levels. National 6s I think. Then Advanced Highers which are higher than A levels, and equivalent to first year Uni. They might be New National 7s :-[ ....or at least I think thats how it goes :-\
Re: Of to the vets Way off topic now, but 'General Certificate of Secondary Education'. Introduced, I think, in 1988!! You have my sympathies. A million years ago, when I was doing exams, I used to chant things I had to learn of by heart to my little Jack Russell, who would sit on my bed when I was revising. It seemed to work, and made it a bit less depressing!
Re: Of to the vets I feel sorry for employers trying to work it all out. The schools have been trying to educate us parents about the new qualifications and its hard going.....
