I have tried giving him a toy to carry at those times which does seem to help a bit. Any other ideas would be appreciated..

Hi there. Can you tell us a little bit more about your dog? It would be helpful to know how old they are, and how long they've been living with you? What's their typical daily routine look like? And do they walk nicely on the lead for you when no other dogs are around? Thanks! Sammie x

I have the same problem with my rescued lab if he sees another dog out on a walk, only dogs on leash though. He has nipped me on the leg and my husband twice and it hurts. I walk him at 5.30am now avoiding people. I have had big dogs all my life but from puppies, never had a problem before. I am interested to see the advice on your thread.

Hi Ann. I think your dog is an adult? If so, it sounds like you would benefit from a session with a professional canine behaviourist. I'll pop an infographic below with some tips on finding the right person to help.

In the meantime, please do make sure you keep your dog away from children and vulnerable adults. I know this can be a nuisance, but its for his safety as well as theirs.
