Murphy has been off his food since tuesday (tuesday was when he was let out of his crate for 2 hours when i wasnt there and got himself in a state and was sick on my return). Since then he has been a bit funny about food although will eat treats, just not his actual meals, but seems ok in himself, but this evening he has just been sick twice. Dont know whether the vets would do anything as he doesnt seem poorly himself. Any ideas? Thanks in advance
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) If he is suddenly not eating his meals then I would take him to the vet. As you say, there are not many symptoms to go on, but not eating properly and a couple of vomits would have me off to the vet. Hope it's nothing and he's back to his normal self soon
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) I agree, I would be making a vet visit. Hope you get some answers soon! Let us know how it goes.
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) Thanks everyone. Just got back from the vets. She thinks he's just picked up a little bug, so have to feed him a bland diet, just chicken and rice for a few days. He's also got a touch of conjunctivitis. Thanks for your concern everyone x
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) We are away for the weekend at my aunties in Sussex. It's where murphy is staying when we go on our honeymoon for a week in jan. we've been here 2 hours now, and we've got his bed in the living room, and his crate set up and he knows where the back door is to go out to the loo and he's had his tea. The issue is that he won't stop panting and is quite hyper. We can't get him to calm down. Is there any tricks to calm him down? Xx
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) Some tummy rubs? Sorry no expert but Annabelle does TT - maybe not around to help right now, don't know who else does this. Do you think she knows you are staying with her and not leaving her?

[/quote] TTouch is really, really interesting. http://www.ttouchtteam.co.uk/TTouchwhatis.shtml. Eg "Contrary to out dated beliefs, handling a fearful, defensive or reactive animal in a positive, mindful, calm way does not reward, and therefore reinforce, that behaviour. It can change it. The Tellington TTouch has a profound and potent effect on the nervous system and has a powerful influence on responses and mood. Even well established patterns of behaviour often alter within a very short space of time and the Tellington TTouch has even saved the lives of many animals whose behaviour has been deemed to be out of control." Simple massage and ear slides works for my Charlie (just hyper active, not nervous) - since you probably don't have time to read a book right now, there is a video here which might give you a few quick ideas: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kbO2krzr0g I've ordered some DVDs, so hope to look into all of this a bit more. V interesting.
Re: Sick! (Bleurgh) He eventually settled and stopped whining in his crate at 1am!! I kept sitting next to his crate and sneaking away when he feel asleep but then would wake up and start again! Eventually after me being nice and going down and seeing him I got annoyed because he knew by then that we were close so I shouted no and squirted him with water like Pippa says to do. It makes me feel bad but he was quite after that. I'm just about to start another thread about something that just happened this morning x
