I've been spoiled in the past in that all my dogs have been non-moulting breeds (Giant Schnauzers and German Wirehaired Pointers) until a year ago when the then 3 year old DexiD4Diva Dog joined our lives.

Now I'm most certainly not overly house-proud but like to keep the place in a not too embarrassing state. You never know who might call at the MudHut. Visitors have got used to the presence of mud and that all paint, carpet etc is in mud-friendly colours.

Nobody told me about Labrador hair!

It gets in our food, our clothes and even somehow our mugs of tea. I brush her a couple of times a week and realise if I did it daily life would be less hairy all round BUT there's something about a Lab that makes me not mind, to positively forgive her ..... bring on the hairs she's most definitely worth it :)

Excellent attitude. ;D ;D ;D Charlie is not bad hair wise...that's my excuse for never brushing him, anyway. Someone said the more you brush, the more they shed...so my no brush policy has some justification. ;D ;D ;D

Although, now he is on lead walks, and not getting covered in mud so needing a rinse off, the hair inside the house is definitely increasing a bit. So maybe it was all the post muddy walk rinses that kept it under control before...

My GSP moulted worse than no 1 Lab; no 2 Lab moults the same as GSP but has longer hairs!

My non-moulting dogs had to have their old coat stripped away at least once a year. Much easier to cope with than daily hair loss but a nightmare whilst doing it (all by hand).

I used to take them up into the Quantock Hills to do it so the wind would blow away the masses of fur and fluff = no mess to clean up :)

Dealing with fur is all about cognitive readjustment.

We went for a run on the weekend with our car club (Mazda MX5) and one of the other members glanced at our car carpet and said "Oh! What an interesting pattern you've....oh, it's fur....".

    Well said!
Just imagine how it would be with a Malamute, then you will appreciate more the scant amount ;D of hair labs have.
Often see whole drifts of it in our woods - I now understand why the woods is indeed a grand place to groom your hairy dogs......AND the birds benefit with some super soft fluffy bedding.
