Our lovely little pup ollie (hes 5 months old today) just hasnt been himself the last 2 weeks or so, he's gone off his food & seems very fidgety & unable to settle. He also has bright red gums which has led us to the fact its his teeth, bless his heart! Today I got home from work to see blood on some of his chew toys & the kitchen door. I've noticed right at the back of his mouth he has a molar cutting through & it seems to be really really bleeding a lot. Has anyone else had this or have any fresh ideas of how to stop bleeding & soothe his mouth? I feel so bad for the poor little mite :(

When you say that is bleeding a lot, do you mean you're just noticing a bit of blood on everything he picks up (nothing to worry about) or that you can see an active flow of blood? If you can see an active flow of blood and it's been going on for more than half an hour then I'd give your vet a call.

If you think it's not that serious then give him cold things to chew on like a cold carrot or cold cucumber out of the fridge. You can also tie knots in a tea towel to bunch it up, soak it, and freeze it. Those sorts of things should sooth his gums a bit :)

Hope he is feeling better soon :)

It is such a worry! I was so anxious about it, I was constantly on the forum asking for advice. So alarming to see blood on toys. Although, if you think something is amiss, and there is lots of blood, best to get the vet to take a look, there can be some problems that is best to get checked out.

Here is my boy at 5 months, you can see the blood on his gum on the left. I never really got more than a few spots on chew toys though....

Well it started with a few spots of blood on chew toys etc but then I noticed a bit of blood on my pjs where he was resting his head, probably about the size of a 20 pence coin. When I checked his mouth, the back left molar had cut & was sitting in a little pool of blood. I keep checking it & its still bleeding into the left side of his mouth. He's leaving a little bloody drool trail everywhere he's been bless him. I think I may call the vet first thing if its no better, in the mean time ill try the dish cloth in the freezer :)

Gosh im terrible, I hate the thought of him being in pain. Teething is certainly not my highlight I have to say!!

Thanks for your advice guys :D

Your dog is beautiful julie! Looks identical to our ollie

Hopefully it will be better in the morning :) It doesn't sound too bad to me.... It should clot up at some point though.

I've had a few days with blood on toys too. I have given Harley an ice cube and this appears to of helped a bit. She has been more clingy the last few days (not sure if it's to do with teeth or because I've recently come out of hospital!). My hubby has had a good look as I phoned him worried as lots of blood on her rawhide, and said its her teeth pushing through.
I hope Ollie is a bit better tomorrow x
