ok it doesn't sound like much but I just have to tell someone! I walk the boys off lead in fields despite Barney's dodgy recall as we only see dogs we don't know about 1 in 6-8 weeks. He is very friendly and runs up to dogs and wants to play but as we know not every dog wants to play with an excited black lab. Today though he saw 2 black labs on long lines and ran towards them. I called come mainly to stop Rusty following him and blow me down; Barney came! Then on the way back I was just about to put the lead on when a squeaky barky noise started up that sounded a lot like a Border terrier being bounced on by a Labrador (how I know what that sounds like is another story...) Barney & Rusty took off at the speed of light into the distance. I blew the recall whistle somewhat ambitiously but was astonished when they both thundered back at full pelt. They got a handful of treats each and the leads on sharpish. Ok so I guess that the commotion was coming from the far side of the river and so not very interesting but still - 2 Barney recalls under extreme distraction!! It may not happen again so I'm enjoying the feeling while it lasts
Re: amazed of Kempston Alas normal service resumed this morning when Barney took off at the sound of barking. Although when I caught up I wasn't surprised as it was my neighbour with Marley & Sweep - playmates we haven't bumped into in months and far too exciting to ignore. Ho Hum I like the feeling while it lasted...
