My dad has really taken to Jax- my mum and dad adopted my 5 brothers and sisters so we didn't have any pets. Since my mum died 4 years ago my dad spends all his time with us. I spoke to him about getting a puppy as he is a big part of our lives and he was happy for us.

Fast forward nearly 6 weeks and my dad and Jax are best friends- it's lovely to see my dad with Jax and I really think their bond is going to grow.

We've been having a problem with Jax trickling a bit of wee whenever my dad comes- it's happened with the delivery man and a couple of friends- I know it's just excitement but I wanted to try and break the habit if I could. So today we took Jax to my dads. There is only one path to the estate where my dad lives from the car park and as soon as we got out of the car Jax sniffed and kept sniffing taking us up the path to where all the bungalows are. He carried on past the first bungalow and stopped at my dad's gate, jumping up and trying to get in. When we opened the gate I let Jax off the lead and he went berserk lol- my dad opened the door and Jax practically jumped into my dad's arms.

It really seemed that Jax picked up my dad's scent especially when he stopped at my dad's gate- is this possible at such a young age a Jax is only 14 weeks- nearly. Thank you

Absolutely - he knew by scent.

So lovely to hear of how close he and your Dad have become. Really, really lovely.

    Ah Lisa,that is lovely.....
I did a test on Dexter a couple of weeks ago....I do an excercise class in the park opposite my front door a couple of times a week and at the end we lie on the floor on our mats to do excruciating ;D abdominals...I'd forgotten my mat so I was literally lying on the grass.....when I next took Dex out for his toilet break about 2 hours later...I walked past the spot where we were all lying.....he had a cursory sniff around the general area and then found the exact spot I was in and sniffed it for ages!i had a chuckle imagining what he must think I'm doing lying on the floor in the park....

Thank you everyone- i was thinking it could be but wasn't sure.

Like I say we never had any pets and I wouldn't have put my dad down as being a doggie person but in the 6 weeks we've had Jax they have defo built up a bond. It was truly amazing to see Jax getting so excited. My dad was speechless lol.

Dexter that's so cute and amazing how they do it. I bet you couldn't believe it lol
