I have just read another tragic story about a dog dying from getting a stick stuck in the windpipe, I have already had a bad experience with Poppy but how on earth do you stop them picking them up, even on a lead Poppy manages to find one and chew on it and toss it around, she does sometimes drop on demand followed by a treat but it does worry me a lot.
Re: Sticks It is very sad, I have seen many a stick injury at work and they are horrible It is hard when they always want to pick them up but I guess all you can do is try and distract their attention to something else, I think kong have made a 'stick' toy, would that interest Poppy as a distraction?
Re: Sticks I did get one of those but shes only interested in it if she's off the lead on the lead she's a nightmare with sticks I do try to avoid as much as possible but with the weather at the moment there are so many around.
Re: Sticks Its a constant battle I can imagine, we are very lucky Hunter doesn't really have that interest in sticks, can she be distracted with treats?
Re: Sticks Penny loves sticks! We try not to encourage her to play with them. If she picks them up we just ignore her, that way she just carries them for a bit and then loses interest.
