Hello all.... Riley has a small lump on his top eyelid. It doesn't look sore and doesn't seem to be bothering him. Any thoughts on what it might be and if it needs treatment or leaving alone? It may be unrelated but appeared after he was playing boisterously with a GSP. He seemed to fuss at it for an hour or so but it hasn't worried him since. Thanks
Re: Small lump on eyelid It could be a sty, like humans get, or perhaps a small thorn or something got in there. I'd be inclined to keep an eye on it, and if it hasnt gone away after a few days, then take him to the vet.
Re: Small lump on eyelid Hello I think it sounds innocuous enough. As long as he's not rubbing it. My first lab grew a small wart on her eyelid, other than occasionally putting cucumber juice in her eye when it was looking a little sore and keeping an eye on it (no pun intended) we left it alone. When she got her booster shots we pointed it out and the vet said if got to be rubbing on her eyeball he could try cutting it out but would prefer to leave it as long as possible, fortunately we never got to that - but things have changed since then, this was late 80's.
Re: Small lump on eyelid Just to let you know, been to the vet and he thinks it's most likely an infected gland and we have some antibiotics to hopefully clear it up x fingers that's all it is as anything else in a young dog wouldn't be great news.
Re: Small lump on eyelid Riley's eyelid is looking a lot better although he has had to wear the cone of shame to stop him rubbing it. We saw our favourite vet and she was a lot less keen to get the knife out than the first vet we saw, she also said it could take over a month to settle and for the hair to grow back. Fingers crossed it heals completely
