Sorry, Got a few things I need help with. Im very lucky in that I have a pets at home, a five minute walk from me, which has a vets. I have been going to the PDSA, which is about a forty minute drive, so not good if there was an emergency. So Ive decided to change to the pets at home vets, which Ive heard good things about. Does anyone know of any good pet insurance deals? Im on a limited income, so it would have to be reasonable. I think Im going to make an appointment to make sure that Otis cystitis has definately cleared up. I will also get him weighed and make sure Im feeding the correct amount of dog food, although, he is slim, he dosent seem to put on weight easily, and I give him quite a few treats. The other thing is I have forgotton when he was last wormed, he had milbemax, and I think it was a couple of months ago, he seems worm free, but I just wonderd what to do. The pets at home vets do , Petplan, insurance, is this a good one ? Thanks, Maggie

Hi I'm quite new to the forum but I have pet plan insurance for Rosie. It was recomended by a friend of a friend who is a vet. I am close to making a claim for Rosie to have hip x rays and when I asked the vet receptionist she was pleased I had pet plan cover as she said they rarely quibble and are one of the few who pay up front. Insurance is a complicated business so am sure you'll get lots more advice

I too would recommend PetPlan :) They provide extensive coverage and our vet recommended them. We found that online reviews were helpful as well. I'm in Australia, so we mostly have different companies to the UK, but PetPlan stood out above the rest.

Milbemax is given every three months, so if you last wormed him with that product round about the 2 month ago mark, he should be fine. Wormers don't work for a set period like vaccinations do - they work only at the time you give them (like you taking a Panadol) but for Milbemax 3 monthly is the typically recommended frequency.

Maggie I have Argos Platinum lifetime and they have been very good so far if you are looking for other options. Trouble is we only seem to bear about companies when they cause problems nkt when they do what you expect them to do. Good luck!

We use Petplan, not the cheapest but they seem to be very good at paying out.
