She's eating normally and seems completely ok when we go out for a walk, running around, playing with other dogs, and retrieving with gusto. But at home she is definitely quieter than normal, holds her Lambie in her mouth more than normal, and has deserted her usual favorite resting spots (on the couch, or else her bed in the hallway by the heater, where she is in the thick of things) for a blanket under OH's desk in his study.

Could this be hormonal? Her last heat was in October. If she'd been having puppies they would have been due right around Christmas, so it can't be a phantom pregnancy. Just all a bit odd. Oh yes, and she doesn't pee very much either - don't know if that's related or not.

    Any ideas?

It could be a phantom Karen , I read that phantoms can start from 4 weeks after the end of the season to 8/10 weeks after . Millies season was right at the beginning of September and her phantom lasted well into December . Just keep an eye on her , is she eating ok ? if worried , take her for a check up , hope she is loads better soon x

Poor girl, I hope she's ok. Sounds a bit unsettled. I always think that a vet visit is worthwhile if you're unsure - if it turns out to have been unnecessary that can only be a good thing.

Thank you all for your comments. Pretty sure it is hormonal - she seems much chirpier today, but has been making nests all over the house! ::) I think she's ok though. :)

That's good :) Well, about the fact that she is ok, despite the nest-making :)

I don't know anything about bitches but although it seems like ages ago Christmas was only a few weeks ago and hormones don't always follow the rules.

Hope shes back to herself soon

    Jen :D
