Oh my word. Every night for the last week or so, Orion has gone absolutely INSANE for around an hour in the evenings after dinner time. He runs around, bites everything, barks at us, is play-aggressive, and will not mind!!!!! Is this normal?!
Re: Crazy evening hour???? Yes, totally normal What sorts of strategies have you tried? Time-outs and keeping all the humans calm can help. Evening is the most active time for many dogs too as adults, but a lot less crazy
Re: Crazy evening hour???? Charlie did this as a pup. I have to say, I wished I'd been a bit stricter about not allowing it. It was funny when a 8kg puppy bounced off the walls, sofa, table. Less so at 30kgs. : He tries to do it now in the room we allowed him to do it in when he was small. That hour is walk, pen and chew time now!
Re: Crazy evening hour???? Same thing with Molly. Like a human toddler when she gets tired she gets hyper. I call it "an attack of the sillies". I just pop her in her crate. She doesn't object.

Re: Crazy evening hour???? Finley here too. It is always around the 9 O'clock time. We are fortunate that his pal Ruby is here to take the brunt of his antics. That, or the Kong gets it.!!! I thought that this would stop at two, but clearly not. Maybe 2 1/2. :

Re: Crazy evening hour???? There is a muddy path in our garden worn in by Amy's mad half an hour. I too wish we had stopped it sooner, when a pup and she would start I would take her out to play, she would get over excited and it would end in tears. We should have put her away to calm down before it went wrong.

We didn't have too much madness But then we didn't have the very young pup stage.....our version of it though was called 'The Prowl' he'd walk around restless grabbing cushions,items on the coffee table ,pulling at our clothes ,front paws on our knees,all kinds of things that he would never do during the day......mostly he has grown out of it...there's a 'mini prowl' born of excitement when he sees us getting his walk stuff ready....he'll make off with his lead,my trainer,a toy! ;D I like him being silly as he is quite a serious dog ;D

[/quote] I agree DD4DD had a bad start in life being bred 3 times and kept in a 'kennel' (cage) until she was more than three so we always feel joyous for her when she does what we in Somerset would call a fliddy

Re: Crazy evening hour???? It's a phrase close to our hearts .... one of Hubby's old bikes is an Indian that was originally used for The Wall Of Death that used to go around fairs and events in the UK
Re: Crazy evening hour???? hahahaha - i am really going to steal this phrase 'wall of death'.... it is so appropriate. orion goes completely insane for perhaps a half hour, and it's going to be the death of me! i do my best to sort him and calm him and steer him to his chews or his kong.... but he goes just wild. i've resorted to shutting him in a quieter room for a few moments at a time, which seems to be helping him calm himself - having 2 kids in the house doesn't help, and i find myself trying (and failing) to calm ALL THREE OF THEM DOWN. now, about that guinness.......

Re: Crazy evening hour???? Eek, I can just see the pup and the kids ALL going hyper at the same time Sympathy to you!! I, too, missed the puppy stage with Simba but we certainly experienced The Prowl, exactly as Angela describes. He's 1 1/2 now, and much more settled but I still see The Prowl on occasion, especially if we have people over. I try to give him something to chew and that (usually) stops it.
