We went to our first obedience class today! So excited to have found the Deutsche Retriever Club, who do basic training right through to dummy work and gun dog training... Phew, it was exhausting... I always thought, a bit smugly, that Poppy is really well-behaved, but this showed me how very much we have to learn! She is much more focused on my Other Half than on me, so I will be doing this training with her.

We are both very tired this evening, and I am so thrilled to have found this group, as I think it will add a new dimension to my relationship with Pops, as well as being very good for her. We are a group of 8 Labradors / golden retrievers, all between eight months and a year. Great fun (and yes, at one moment it all went wrong and Pops lost concentration and ended up chasing around with another pup... But we'll get there!).

Tired but happy, Karen and Poppy

Oh, and I forgot to say, we had the classic moment when all eight pups were lined up neatly in a row, ready to be called individually back to their owners... All was going swimmingly, until suddenly one of them broke out - and then there they all were, charging wildly round the field, having a LOVELY time!!! ;D ;D ;D

Sounds fantastic :). I never know how to react when they all loose it, I just want to laugh but feel the somewhat severe trainer would not be impressed so I try to put my best disapproving face on whilst grinning from ear to ear inwardly!
