I had a VERY proud moment today...

Teasle "went" on command! I'd been asked to get this command in place in case there's a change and she makes the grade as an assistance dog. So ever since she arrived I've been saying "busy busy" every time she toilets and now I've proofed it several times - today was somewhere new, doing some work, then a break rather than a "normal" walk and she still responded instantly ;D Hey I know it's an odd thing to be proud of but it's the first thing I've taught her from scratch...

There was a conversation last week at training - it seems guide dogs also use "busy busy" but Canine partners say "better go now" which isn't popular with the handlers - they'd much rather use the busy word too. So does anyone use anything different? When Rusty was a puppy he used to respond to "go pee" but I didn't keep it up I think he's forgotten now...

Hey - well done. Very envious. I use "hurry up" but it doesn't really make much difference. Might change it.

Oh dear , I`m going to sound very silly in light of the more sensible commands, but Sam, like all my previous dogs responds very well to Wee and Poo , how embarassing ::)

I don't use this at all - Lilly has had the bladder of a camel since we had her and will only be tempted to poo in long grass (a lucky feature my garden can always provide ;D ;D )
A friend told me a story of her dog, a collie who could pee to order - I think the trigger was "wee wee". Whenever her mother looked after her she struggled to grasp this concept of a trigger cue, and was always asking the dog (inside) "you want to go out and wee wee" with obvious consequences!!! A perfect example of the need to train owners/doggy-sitters.

    Lol Jac!

We used 'hurry up' with our pup we trained from scratch, but Rocket came to us as an adult so we are stuck with 'do a wee'! She's getting a bit deaf now, so we have to shout it :s

LOL Jac - and a great reason to use a less obvious cue word!

I just say "toilet" - it sounds very different to any other commands and Digby arleady at 14 weeks will wee when I say it in the garden, haven't tried it elsewhere yet, he's still a bit too excited on a walk to do anything boring like go to the loo. Think its possible he associates it with a certain place i.e. my garden. As he can only walk for 10-15 mins he can easily hold on until we're home. Will say it as he wees as soon as I see him doing one outside the garden so he realises that I mean the action of weeing wherever we are. Its a useful thing though. If I have to go out for the school run or shopping etc and its been a while since he went out I can take him out to the garden, say toilet and he will go, putting him in his cage then is less of a worry as he shouldn't need the loo.
Have a friend who gives her toilet command in spanish so nobody can understand! ;D

We use 'busy, busy' and 'busy, busy, quick, quick' for Maia when she's pacing back and forth flatly refusing - although in her defence she does have nerve damage and isn't always sure if she needs to.

Although I looked after a goldie who's cue was 'have a pee' - that drew some strange looks from people!
