Hi all, Not sure whether the Dog Friendly brief extends to pubs but if it does ... We went to The Swan (http://www.theswaninnmalvern.co.uk/welcome/) near Malvern today. We were really just looking for somewhere new to take Harvey to continue his socialising but whilst avoiding the horrid weather. We decided on a pub that we often drive by and we, and Harvey, had a great time. Dogs are welcome (in the bar area only) and Harv got so much attention he must have thought he'd died and gone to doggy heaven ;D Things got even better when my wife gave him an ice cube (his first) and he played with that under the table.
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire
Dog friendly pubs are HUGELY important. Clare
I would VERY strongly second that!!
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire Yes, we definitely want to know about pubs! Anything with beer really
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire Well in that case I'm prepared to volunteer, purely for Harvey's socialisation and for the benefit of the forum you understand, to see what other dog-friendly pubs I can find. ;D
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire We like to make sacrifices for our dogs.....and The Forum of course - well done on volunteering! ;D
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire Although I'm far away I too would love to hear descriptions of dog-friendly pubs. Once day we'll be back to the UK and I have in the past really loved visiting pubs with dogs in them (they are not allowed here). One day we were in a pub near Dartmoor and there were four black Labradors under a table. Heaven. Descriptions of the beer quality and range, decor, general ambience and food would be greatly appreciated!!!
Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire Well, there is a dog friendly pub in Fowey, Cornwall - called the Lugger. I've been waiting to post a proper report until I can get my dog inside and sitting quietly... ;D ;D ;D I've only managed 10 minutes so far before he started mugging the waitresses! The beer isn't anything special, and it's now a standard brewery pub, but the history of the building in terms of smugglers and murders is impressive (I've researched it in detail). Well, that's all for now, but one day I'll post a proper report of the history of this pub, while sitting under the old stairs, eating Fowey river mussels, with my dog at my feet. I hope. : I suspect this ambition is more about my dog being calm in a pub, than the pub! Here's a pic: http://www.coolplaces.co.uk/places/uk/england/cornwall/fowey/652-the-lugger-inn

Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire
Ooh you live near me then
Small world isn't it? Have you seen how flooded the fields are alongside the A4440 heading towards The Ketch island? It's like something out of Waterworld.

Re: The Swan Pub, Nr Malvern, Worcestershire Uncle Bob, no I haven't driven that way to Worcester recently but remember it when it flooded Powick! I can look down on parts of the Severn and see it is well flooded. The White Lion in Upton on Severn lets dogs into their lounge if you want coffee or afternoon tea.
