    Hi all,

Is there any reason why a 5 month old pup, who has not had a pee accident in the house for a long time, would suddenly decide to pee in his bed? ???

Is we weeing more frequently than normal? Does his wee look or smell different? Drinking more than usual?

Has anything changed in his environment?

What are the circumstances of the bed weeing - how often and when?

Sorry for all the questions :) It is quite unusual for a dog or puppy to wee in its own bed as I'm sure you know (hence your question...).

    Hi Rachael,

    No, no, and no.

The bed is one that we have in the lounge, as opposed to his bedding in his crate, that we were hoping he would 'chill' in during the evening (ever the optimists!). It's fairly new (about two weeks old).

This is the first time that he has done it - this morning shortly after he had come back from being in the back garden.

Perhaps the fact that it isn't his overnight bed makes him care less about soiling it? Still odd though. ???

Has he slept on that bed since or is he avoiding it?

Do you have any other animals that might sleep on that bed?

    Hopefully it's just a one-off! :)

We've had The DivaDog - [IMG] - for almost two years an she is now 100% house trained. But late last summer we were having the drive relayed and sewerage works repaired. Stv (Hubby) and I are not people people and were really rather stressed. Poor DivaDog did a huge pee on our bed .... can only assume it was her way of expressing the tension as she's been thoroughly house clean both before and ever since

We also have Stella the cat. She tolerates Harv rather than actually enjoying his enthusiastic greetings and, yes, I have noticed her going in this bed now and then. Could that be it? Can't think of anything else that could have stressed him (he's pretty chilled about everything 8) ).

Will have to hope it was a one-off. :)

Hi there, just be aware that once he's weed in a place indoors; he'll be likely to do it again... Just washing the bed will NOT rid the smell for him! You may have to take the bed away for a while...

    Hi,
Our puppy did that too the other day. We couldn't believe it either. He's a month younger than your pup.
We got him a new bed as he'd outgrown the old. We left his old one in the kitchen and put his new one in the living room. We always invite him in the living room on an evening, where he sleeps like a prince.
Then we noticed he'd piddled a bit on the floor and trailed it right into his new bed.
I think we misread the signals of him asking to go out to wee. As we kept telling him to get in his bed and lie down (to stop mooching!)
Then we sent him to the kitchen and found he'd done the same in his old bed! Arrgghhh. Maybe confusion over where he was supposed to be. Too young to be marking I think.
    Biological washing powder...he hasn't done it again....hope yours doesn't either ::)
