Sam rarely barks, in fact he is the least barky dog we`ve ever owned , not a peep when someone comes to the door even , great guard dog, not ! But , we have discovered that if he hears a noise and cant see what it is , thats a different kettle of fish . I often walk him down a bridle path near our home and either side of the wide path are very high stone walls with vegetation growing over them so in a way, its a bit like walking down a tunnel . This morning, there were cows in one of the fields over the wall and one was moo-ing loudly , and because he couldnt see the noise maker , Sam really kicked off , all the hair came up on his neck and he barked like a mad thing . Its really strange because on a different walk , there are cattle over the other side of the river who are often making a noise but because he can see them, he isnt remotely bothered, funny lad
Re: Funny boy Bellas the same, rarely barks, we had her for two weeks before she barked. However when she does its usually something like the cutlery draw being shut or next door bumping around. Then her ears cock up and she starts.
Re: Funny boy Lilly isn't much or a barker, but if anyone is in the back field (there is a path at the top of it) or a neighbors garden, she makes her presence known. She also barks at the door bell. Ours rarely rings, but there are an awful lot of them on the TV that sound a lot like ours ! ;D ;D She has a peculiarly deep, masculine bark for quite a slight girl. jacqui
