Hi I just got a 18 month old lab from a lost dogs home. We have only been used to having an old boy around so I want to get it right when it comes to feeding. I have got the little man on Super Coat Adult and im giving him 1 cup in the morning then 1 cup at night. Not sure if this is correct so happy to hear any feedback. Cheers

Hello there from me and Dexter, he's 16 months and our first dog.
Congratulations on your new addition, how is he doing,is he settling ok.what is his name?tell us a little bit about him x
I feed Dexter a royal canin kibble based on the feeding recommendations on the bag,he's got a very sensitive tummy so he doesn't get anything else except steamed and roast chicken for training treats.
Enjoy the forum and welcome x

Food topics are always quite confusing! Personally I've never heard of the food you're using but if your dog seems to be doing well on it and is healthy and active there's no reason to change it.

How much is one cup? Most bags of food have a chart on the back where you can look up your dogs current weight and how much you should feed them. Eg. For a 20kg dog you would probably feed up to 300g of food a day - but this can be split into two meals of 150g.

Tell us some more details about you dog - what do they weigh? This might help someone else give some better advice than me!

Hi our boys name is Bear we got him on Tuesday from lost dogs home, Our old old Bundy passed away before Xmas he was a Lab X. We always fed him old Super Coat which is the dry food that has Doctor Harry's face on it. We are taking him our our vet on the 4th March to have his booster shots so he will get weighed then and I will ask him what he recommends. He is a very well mannered quite boy and just loves a cuddle and to be around people.

Bear, are you in Australia? :)

Purina Supercoat is a reasonably good food. If your dog looks good on it then I'd say you should continue with it. By looking good I mean that his coat is shiny and he seems fit, alert and active. As far as the quantity goes the best thing is to go by his appearance as well. When you look at him from above his sides should go in a bit before his hips. When you look at him from the side his tummy should be higher than his chest. And when you run your hands down his sides firmly you should be able to detect his ribs. If he looks like that then you are doing fine. If he is not like that he may be a bit tubby and so I'd cut down his evening meal to half a cup or both meals to three-quarters of a cup :)

Hello and welcome, and Bear is a great name! Sounds like you are feeding him a good diet, and it sounds about the right amount too, but as Rachael says it depends on the dog and how much exercise he does etc.

    Hi there!
Welcome to the forum. Love the name bear too - we need a picture though!
Can't help on the food I am afraid as I don't recognise the names you mention, but......what Rachael said too!
