    Hi Helen

I've only just caught up with this news and I'm really pleased you feel happy and are giving it a go.

I do think just having some guidance and help on managing Charlie will help you a lot and stop the feeling of banging your head against a brick wall. A fresh perspective when you are stuck is usually a good thing.

I would say though if there is anything she does that you aren't happy with or aren't sure about or you can't see working when you are on your own with Charlie tell her or ask why. Remember you are paying so technically employing this woman to help. That was the mistake I made with the gundog trainer I had. I reverted to teacher, pupil which it is but you are allowed to disagree.

Whatever exercises she gives you to practise at home think of the worse case scenario Charlie might do (you know him she doesn't) and ask 'what should we do if he ......' or 'if he doesn't .....' That's the problem I find with training books they tell you what to do but not what to do if it goes horribly wrong. You have the opportunity to ask the trainer and I don't want to put a dampener on things but realistically something will probably go wrong, sorry, so for warned is for armed as they say.

Good luck. I'm sure it will go well

    Jen :D

I've put some courses up Helen, in the events section, that might interest you.

I haven't been to any of their seminars myself, but David Ryan and John Rogerson are both well thought of. I don't know whether there are any places left, but if not, both these guys tour and give talks every year, so its worth enquiring where the next one will be.

Good luck with your first session at Hamble Hounds.

Thanks very much Pippa, I have read about David Ryan before, he is fascinating, unfortunately all seminars too far for us with family and work commitments, but I will definiately keep a look out for dates in areas closer to us :) Such a shame as they cover averything we struggle with :( Again my thanks for directing me to it. x
