:-\ I had to take Scout to the emergency vet on Friday night. He threw up at least 12-15 times in the span of 2 hours. FNITGuy was at work and I was trying to deal with our screaming (not wanting to go to bed) 2 yr old and here's poor Scout throwing up. Every time I would clean it up he would throw up again. We were so worried about him. All our other animals were fine, Lucy wasn't throwing up or anything. We weren't sure what was going on with Scout. So my sis and I packed him up (while my mom sat with our daughter) and head off to the emergency vet at 10:00 PM. The vet said that we could do all sorts of tests, like for parvo and things or we could try to give him some anti-nausea meds and some fluids and see if he started feeling better. (By that time hadn't thrown up for about an hour). We opted to go for the fluid and meds. We were instructed to withhold food and water until early the next morning, start out with a little water and if he kept that down we could give him a little bit of food and see if he kept that down. He did fine through the night, no more vomiting, and we gave him some water the next morning. He kept that down and we gave him some food and he was able to keep that down. Still not sure what the heck happened....he had to have eaten something that upset his sensitive system but I don't know what that could have been. He isn't really ever by himself. We let him outside by himself for a few minutes, I suppose he got into something in the backyard, but not sure what that would have been. We don't give him people food and no new food or treats recently. Scary though! We sure don't want to lose our puppy and with him not being able to tell us what he ate or what was hurting it was impossible to tell what was wrong with him! He seems fine now - but we'll be keeping a close eye on him.
Re: Emergency Vet... He is his usual feisty self today - playing around and aggravating Lucy....we'll keep a watch on him and he goes back to the vet next weekend so I'm sure she'll check him over pretty well.
Re: Emergency Vet... Oh hideous for you. How is it the OH is never around at times like these? : Extra stressful to have to keep juggling between toddler and dog too! Hope it was just a temporary glitch (and that FNITGUy gets to cope with the next one!)

[/quote] Hahah lol if FNITGuy would have been home he would have dealt with Scout while I handled our 2 yr old....but alas - he does have to work, although he wishes he didn't!! LOL
Re: Emergency Vet... Glad it seems to be resolved! Hope it stays that way, it is so hard when you don't know what has set something off.

Re: Emergency Vet... Glad Scout is ok today. Harley has done this once or twice with no apparent reasons. I think some labs have sensitive tummies....Harley certainly does so we now watch everything she eats at home and out and about! X
Re: Emergency Vet... Thanks everyone! He seems his normal self today - no puking.....he just must have gotten something that didn't agree with his tummy. He's been running around all day aggravating Lucy and chewing my pant legs lol generally just bouncing around. Hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Re: Emergency Vet... Thanks everyone! I hate that it happened while I was at work. I really felt helpless, but I am glad that it wasn't anything serious and little Scout is back to his rambunctious self.
