Holly's now 16 months old. So far she's been really good about keeping off the furniture. She won't go on chairs or the sofa. The worst thing she's done is to put her front paws on the bed so she can stick her nose a bit further under the covers when she wakes us up. Today, that changed. This morning's alarm call was particularly exuberant. We heard the approaching "twang" of her tail against the radiator and braced ourselves. The cold nose burrowed under the covers to find some warm skin. The squeal seemed to excite her and ... horror of horrors .... she jumped onto the bed! "NO!" we both shouted. I picked her up and dumped her unceremoniously on the floor. Now that she's tasted the forbidden fruits we're wondering whether she'll have another go tomorrow morning. We'll all be sleeping lightly tonight.....
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Ah, just let her up Mind you, I can understand the many reasons why you would not want your dog on the bed. We've been on a year-long search for a yellow Labrador/dirt coloured cover for our bed that is durable, washable and not hideous. We've finally found one and it was delivered yesterday. So there's that kind of thing. Plus, Labradors take up more than half the bed no matter how big the bed is.

You must post a photo- I'm intrigued about how it meets all the criteria ;D ;D I'm resigned to cream-with-occasional-paw-prints-and-black-flecks myself!
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... LoL till my sides hurt! ;D I share a 3 seater sofa with a Small Black Dog. It's long enough to double as a bed. I'm squashed at one end. She has the rest!

Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Bless. Let her up. ;D ;D ;D When Charlie was fit, OH would make coffee, then Charlie and OH would come upstairs. Charlie's gallop up the stairs usually woke me...OH would open the bedroom door (I'd have all limbs and head under the cover by this point because...) BOING! One labrador jumping up and down on my head! Coming to rest, tail wagging, on my pillow. Looking VERY pleased with himself. Paw prints, brown hair, on my white linen....tried to persuade OH that it wasn't necessary...pup could wait until I got up. OH said Charlie would be "distressed" if he wasn't allowed to bounce on my head each morning. Now, I miss it SO much. I can't wait for paw prints and brown hairs on my bed!
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... We used to have white. I, too, am familiar with the 'protect the head and limbs' under-the-cover manoeuvre.
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Lol, Harley has a bed next to ours, but around 5am every day up she gets and stays there til breakfast with hubby, then comes back up, jumps over me, then lies back down and goes to sleep . I love it I'm looking for more durable bedding.....I like yours Rachel
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Ooh, that is good Rachael! On the plus side, it turns out that an enthusiastic labrador on the head is one of the few reliable ways of waking a teenager! He gets one call, then I send the dog in ;D ;D

Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Strange - never seemed to work in my house. I'd send TWO labradors in to the sleeping teenager, and a few minutes later all three of them would be snoozing comfortably...
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Wow, that's some powerful sleep vibes being emitted in your house! Clearly my son's just an amateur ;D ;D

Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Thankyou but I'm not actually sure the word style could be used anywhere
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... No, no, and a thousand times, NO!!! No doggy in my bed, thank you! Simba has a lovely bed of his own beside ours, it works just fine. 8) I have found the Labrador scud missile works well on my daughter in the AM too, not because he jumps on her bed but before he gets to her bed is distracted by her, erm, underwear, that he proceeds to eat. She gets up in a hurry when I open the door. On a related note, our couch is back to having chairs on it. A certain four footed rascal has decided this is the very best place to sleep. We've discovered him on it (head resting comfily on the pillow) probably 5x in the last 3 days....
Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Don't worry, Simba, when the revolution comes it'll be the humans sleeping on the floor

Re: It had to happen eventually ..... Just anticipating the inevitable, Angela. I've no specific information on the timing or the means.
