Just took Amy out for an extra walk with the weather been so warm. Everyone else had the same idea, so she had lots of play times. Recalled everytime at first but just as we where getting to the end she must have gotten over excited as she stopped listening! Always the same people she shows me up I front of too!

Jade, don't be downhearted, next time end your walk earlier and then she won't lose concentration and you will both finish on a positive :)

You know she can do it (recall from play) which is fantastic, even if it fell apart slightly once her excitement levels were really up (which is totally normal).

Maybe give her a jackpot (extra large quantity of treats) occasionally next time or think about bringing some hugely desirable treats along. Basically increase the value of the payoff for coming to you in a really distracting situation. And definitely end on a high note :) Or, for the last recall, go and get her rather than calling her so you're not 'punishing' her for coming by ending the play.

I always love it when you say this. ;D It requires a dog who is prepared to be 'got'... ::)

I get this sometimes. I tend to go get her and found this has helped. We sit down for a min and 'calm down' :)

;D True, true. It is something that is worth training in and of itself though - getting your dog to allow you to approach it while it's having a good time. 4 out of 5 times you'd just mark and deliver a treat. 1 out of 5 times the lead goes on.

Why is my answer always a tub of sardines. It's always the sardines. I don't have a coat, fleece or jacket that doesn't smell of sardines.

Mines tinned salmon. My friend at work has a brand new, terribly social show bred lab. Hes gorgeous and has an otter tail.

shes struggling to stop him careering off after every dog he sees. I recommended total recall, salmon and pilchards. Oh and getting another dog as that deffo calmed our honey down. Not pro the last idea for understandable reasons.

Yes, total recall should come with tinned fish vouchers. ;D ;D ;D

Pilchards do the trick here and sometimes just swap it out for something else so as they don't get bored :)
