David and Thomas took Charlie into the woods today on a dropped line, he went to the end of the track whilst Thomas and David went on the rope swing they made in a massive tree :. David whistle recalled Charlie and held the Banana in the air, Charlie returned at breakneck speed for his favourite food : x
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat Well done Charlie . ;D ;D ;D You must be made up with how much he's improving Helen? Was it an actual banana in its skin?
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat Jen we are so happy with Charlie's improvement in the last 2 weeks, it's amazing how changing your own behaviour and body language changes your dogs It was a peeled Banana and he got a chunk for a really great recall x The other thing that has happened this week is his keeness on tennis balls during his walk, which has been very hit and miss, but I have been getting him very excited for the ball on the driveway and he now sees it as exciting on a walk, finally, so we are really hoping this continues as he then stays with us Again not counting our chickens with our boy
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat
That sounds like amazing progress. You must be over the moon!
Over the moon and back again I'm always worried about reporting good behaviour where Charlie is concerned as I might be tempting fate. Keeping everything firmly crossed that he continues to behave : x
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat I really am so happy that you've had so much improvement with Charlie Helen and you are feeling so positive. I know what you mean about changing your own behaviour and body language. My two are so much better when I'm relaxed and not bothering. The other day scout had been in a daft mood first thing so I expected training would go pear shaped so I wasnt bothered and he did everything I asked really well. Must keep reminding myself when I start feeling frustrated with them. : Don't worry if Charlie has a slip up every now and then. He can't be perfect all the time but now you know it's possible and he will keep on improving. I'm so pleased with Charlie never mind you.
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat Lovely to read for both you and Charlie. Are you seeing Hamble Hounds again?
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat So pleased to hear this, Helen, I am so happy for you all!! Fingers crossed here that it will be nothing but up from here on.....I mean no dog is perfect and there's bound to be a couple slip-ups here and there, but I hope you are able to achieve your goal of relaxing FAMILY off lead walks with BOTH dogs....
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat That's wonderful Helen!! Really just great news ;D I also think it's good news that Charlie flushed and didn't chase the pheasants. It might have been surprise but it shows he's not completely he'll bent on chasing stuff....all positive news
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat
Lovely to read for both you and Charlie. Are you seeing Hamble Hounds again?
Yes we are going back for quite a few sessions to cover lots of areas of Charlie's training, I am waiting for Annette to email me some dates. Thanks everyone, but a tricky walk this morning for David as there was a Fox, Deer, Pheasant and then 4 ducks in the river so pretty tough this morning on a long line Barbara, I think he couldn't chase the Pheasant as it took off over our hedge so there was no room for a chase. xx
Re: Ultimate Jackpot Treat That would be a difficult walk for anyone, especially the fox and the deer, very tempting for a dog!
