I've been in the UK for a couple of days, visiting family. It's been lovely, and helped take my mind off losing Bones. My mum has two border collies - goodness, they are VERY different to labs!! I flew back to Frankfurt late this evening.

My other half is away on business, daughter back in the States, son still in Nepal... Bones of course is no longer with us, and Poppy has been staying with friends while I was away. The house is soooooooo quiet and odd without the dogs... I can't wait to pick Poppy up tomorrow, I have missed her! Makes me realize, once again, how important a part of the family our lovely dogs are.

Karen, glad you had a good visit with friends and family. Sorry your house is empty of children, I know I dread that day and it's getting nearer by the day. Sean now left Australia and in Thailand, then Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia Laos etc. and hopefully home by April, haven't seen him for over 2 years. Grace going to University this year. The thing I have realised is everytime a child leaves home I get a dog, heaven help us by the time Joseph and Thomas have left!!

Poppy will have missed you as much as you missed her. Enjoy lots of walks and that will help. Helen x

It must have been a nice trip for you seeing friends and family. I like most dogs but Border Collies are too hyper for me; labs are perfect.
Don't worry everything will be back to normal once you pick Poppy up.

With the rest of the family out of the house you can enjoy a lot of free time and walks with Poppy; that's fun!

Huge gap when the dog of the house is not there. Feels most peculiar. Back now?

Thanks everyone; Poppy is back with me now and we are learning how to be a family of two for a while (other half away for three months on business!).

It's different just having Poppy - but I notice already that we are becoming very close, and very much a team.

    3 months!
    Wow!
Imagine how you would be without having a Poppy around. (think I would go a bit mad).
Do enjoy your one-to-one.........it will be over in a blink ;)

Glad you've got Poppy back...I left my two at my sisters recently while I went on a work trip, and had a night on my own in the flat...it was the morning that felt weird. Really quiet and without wagging tails and numerous attempts to steal socks/my phone off the bedside table/ any underwear of any sort from the laundry basket (Brodick, he really is gross sometimes), my breakfast etc etc....really missed the wee souls!
