I hear what Defra are saying about the risks of rabies and other infections coming into the country being very small, but being an old fuddy duddy, I can't help feeling sceptical. I have mixed feelings about the freedom with which animals will be able to move in and out of the UK from next January. Interested to hear other's views.

    Hi Pippa,

Like you I am also sceptical. I can see that we are trying to move forward from the draconian 6 months quarantine, however only time will tell, I do hope that it works and we never have to suffer the outbreak of Rabies in this Country.

Since the quarantine laws were relaxed some years ago, hundreds if not thousands of Dogs have been imported, which is good for the Gene pool, why or what has influenced this further relaxing??

    Paul.

As I understand it, its all part of our 'integration' into the joyful world of the EU - ie falling into line with everyone else's rules :) :)
