Oh has anybody watched this.....I'm going to have to turn off I think, the Akita rescue has me in bits.i know it's an incredibly stressful situation and a terribly hard job but there seemed to be an awful lot of shouting by the wardens going on?i know this awful cruelty goes on but it is so harrowing seeing these poor dogs for real, they don't stand a chance :'(
Re: Dangerous Dogs I don't 'do' television but daughter told me this program was due to be on ..... I chickened out; its bad enough in my imagination let alone the reality
Re: Dangerous Dogs I didn't see it either as was out that evening. From what I have heard, the handling of these poor dogs was unprofessional and cruel, it is up to us, the public, who were upset by this programme to do something about it, to educate the wardens in how to handle dogs and some knowledge of dog behaviour. The RSPCA should be advised of this disrespect to helpless animals, though what I have seen of their handling, it isn't much better. We should all contact the RSPCA.
Re: Dangerous Dogs I'm sure one of wardens was ex RSPCA....but I might have misheard.I know I'm not very experienced with dogs and dog handling but a lot of it made me uncomfortable Chris carried on watching and he said that the Akita story was actually a happy ending but I couldn't go back to it as there were some other really neglected dogs that were included and I just couldn't have watched them :'(
Re: Dangerous Dogs Im just watching this now even though i know it is going to make me upset. That woman dog warden is ex rspca it said at the start, but my husband and me both think that she should be sacked. All the shouting was definately unnecessary and was probably distressing the akita even more and the way she was moaning about her job and what she has to do etc I think shows that she doesnt have the right mindset or compassion to do that job. The way she was flapping about and shrieking is pathetic. I hate watching this sort of thing but i feel i have to.
Re: Dangerous Dogs I used to volunteer at bath cats and dogs home when i was at uni and it took me about a month to be able to go up there without crying because of all the dogs wanting homes its ridiculous!
Re: Dangerous Dogs I wish there was something they could do to stop idiots breeding stupidly. I spose even if people had to have a breeding license it would just happen "underground" and then youd risk pups not being taken to vets etc? They should ban breeding just for a year to get people to rescue rather than buy puppies for a bit.

That Akita will be in my mind for years to come horrendous !! How that woman is a Dog Warden god only knows, I'm no professional but I would have thought common sense would have made her and the other female who was as much good as I don't know what try to gain its trust and stop all that stupid shouting which only made things worse. Horrible!! Also the poor starved dogs in kennels, firstly why put one bowl of food in then wonder why they got aggressive. The mind boggles....poor poor animals it makes you ashamed to be human. As for the guy with all the puppies selling them at 4 weeks....why isn't that classed as illegal and steps taken to stop him. How could she leave the rest there plus the poor mum who no doubt will reproduce as soon as she is able. Don't think I will watch second part I may spontaneously combust!!!!
Re: Dangerous Dogs I have just watched this programme on IPlayer and struggled to see it through to the end as I am not a fan of Theroux. I find it difficult to understand why people both in the US/UK want to own Pit bull terriers; I guess it is a macho thing and it gives individuals a certain status in the community which then becomes a problem of the State when things go wrong. We should include this subject as part of a citizenship programme taught at secondary education but I am sure there are enough problems with teaching the 3R's let alone adding to the teacher's burden? I am glad that I own a Labrador! Roger
