Hello All , We got a pup in Jan . Now hes around 18 weeks old and had his final vaccination for this year on his 16th week . I have been walking him every morning for about 20-30 mins and then in the evening for about 10 mins . I do make it a point to let him walk slowly and do not pull him around . He usually walks well as he would like to be beside me an our other dog whose an adult . I saw some posts today and wanted to check with all you guys if its safe to walk him out . Is it too much for him , Is it safe for his bones etc . Cause some posts refer that a puppy should be having too much exercise when hes lesser than 6 months old :-[. As mentioned i make it a point to stop and let him relax etc and also leave him off leash sometimes just for a couple of minutes . Please Advise Cheers Vish
Re: When n How much to walk a puppy Hi Vish , sounds about right to me , the rough guide is 5 mins walking for every month of age, but it is just a guide so you arent far out at all , glad that he has some off lead time too

Re: When n How much to walk a puppy Hello all Thank you for your replies , Its good to know am doing the right thing . Bruno is the Pup and Simba is the Adult rescue dog we got . I am unable to posts pics for some reason i don't see that option at the bottom , Will try later perhaps . Re: When n How much to walk a puppy Hi Vish, there is info in the technical section about posting photos. They need to be on Flickr, photobucket, dropbox or some other host first, then link copied directly onto the page (or using the "Insert Image" button just under the BOLD button above)

If you are worried though then always opt for the off lead exercise over the on lead, as they have a chance to run and stop as they want, plus you're getting in lots of practise with the recall, which is always good! Welcome to the forum

Re: When n How much to walk a puppy Thank you all for your posts . We got the Bruno the puppy first , Then after about a month or so we got Simba the rescue dog . People at pounds and rescue groups told us its a good idea so the puppy spends it time with us first and we get to know each other . Then Introducing the dog , I think it made sense then , No problems now as well . Cheers Vish
