    Good Morning!

I have an 8 week old black lab puppy, Storm, who insists on sitting on my feet as soon as I stand still! Is this something I should discourage or is he just wanting warmth/closeness as he's only been with us for 4 days?

    Thanks.

P.S. How do I attach a picture to my profile please!?!?

At this stage he probably wants to be close to you. Do you think he might be a little anxious? What kinds of things does he do when he is on your feet? Is he looking up at you with a happy expression, or staring round or sitting stiffly?

My Pongo does that too, especially when he thinks I'm not paying too much attention to the telly instead of him. Better than a pair of slippers!

Thanks for the replies, he seems quite content when he's on my feet, in fact if I stand still for too long he goes to sleep so I'm hoping he's not anxious and just likes the company, maybe missing the warmth of his litter mates? As soon as I sit on the floor with him he climbs aboard and curls up, again quite content, I don't want him to feel insecure or anxious so should I just go with it for now?

When you look at a litter of pups resting, they all lay on top of each other (unless they are hot). It must be comforting for them to have that close contact.

All of my pups have liked laying on my feet barring one and she has grown up to be very independent (which brings it's own challenges), so I'd go for a pup who likes to be as close to me as possible any day, over an independent pupster.

As they get older and more confident, they grow out of needing that constant contact, so don't worry, he won't be sitting on your foot forever 8) .

Hi there, welcome to the forum!
    Sounds normal to me :)
I remember Lilly settling down by my feet underneath the ironing board when she was tiny. Fell fast asleep I was there for so long....
