Is anyone elses Lab like 18 month old Sam ? Outdoors, he is a bundle of energy , will go for hours , working to find his dummy or playing on the beach , he loves stimulation and interaction . Once home though, he is a proper couch potato , bone idle and loving his naps, only really showing interest when food is around but doesnt even bother to lift his head up when the postman comes ::)

So glad you posted that. I worry that Lady is bored witless during the day. She gets in and flops unconcious most of the time. So it must be normal. ;D

yes wee brodick sounds quite similar! Outside he is Hunting Dog, really wild and will run around with glazed eyes panting if there are rabbits about, goes loopy on the beach and will retreive from water obsessively and with great enthusiasm, but get him back to the house and he loves a cuddle, his grub, and a snooze...he does like to be Naughty still (he is the House Thief and thinks nicking forbidden stuff is hilarious), and the odd hoolie/game with Cuillin, but he really is a completely different dog when out...my friends who have been on a walk with him say they don't recongnise the chilled man from the house....

Thats a relief then :) I`ve even had people say to me that Sam must keep me on my toes , that he looks so lively , I`m sure they dont believe me when I say he is chilled to the point of being frozen at home :)

Poppy is like that too - my friend who picks her up in the afternoon for a walk told me that yesterday when she walked in the front door, Pops barely acknowledged her at first and needed to be encouraged to get up from her nap. She then reluctantly slid off the couch to the floor like a sleepy snake and squirmed her way over to the front door...

Get the dummy out though, and she becomes a complete nutter. Not just Jeckel and Hyde - when I want to annoy the other half, I tell him we have a bipolar Labrador on our hands... 8)

    ;D

The good thing is, when I see her do her 'serpent slither' thing off the couch, I cant help thinking her hips must be in great nick to be able to do that... ;)

Oh bless her David. Thank heavens all your dogs do that too. Hattie and Charlie could sleep for Great Britain. When they get up in the morning they are eagerly waiting for breakfast, eat, drink, wee and straight back to bed!! Hattie very eager for her long walk, back too bed, up for a chewy at lunchtime, back to bed. Charlie out for exercise in the paddock (already walked at 0630), home for a treat and yes back to bed!! soooooo lazy!! ;D Helen x

Ah David, so beautiful and peaceful!!

*Sigh* - Dont you wish you were a dog sometimes? All you have to do is run around and fetch a few balls, then your besotted owner organizes your food for you - and then you can sleep the whole day away on the couch!!!
