This morning at about 5am the wind blew over the snow shovel which I had propped up by the front door. It made quite a loud noise, enough to wake me and Poppy both.

While the other half is away, Pops has been sleeping in my room. She leapt up, barking and growling, and rushed to the top of the stairs, where she stopped and looked back at me as if to say 'Come on, get up, I think there's a burglar downstairs!!'. My old boys would have been down there, barking at the front door, ready to deal with any intruders - but not Princess Poppy, oh no!!! She thought she'd done her bit by alerting me to the situation - and now it was my responsibility to deal with the problem! I eventually managed to persuade her I was NOT going to get up and that all was well, and eventually we both fell back asleep.

When I got up at 7am, I had to laugh because instead of rushing downstairs as normal, she sat at the top of the stairs, her head cocked on one side, waiting for me to go down first, because after all you know, the burglar might still have been down there... ::) ::)

How funny Karen, at least she woke you up!! Hattie would protect me I am in no doubt. One evening last year a rather suspicious man ducked into the trees where I walk and seemed to be hiding, Hattie sensed something was not right and ran upto where he was hiding barking and he very quickly disappeared, thank goodness as I was alone. As for Charlie who knows!!! Helen x

hee hee! way to go Poppy...Brodick would have let out a high pitched bark/sceam, stood behind me, and legged it if there had been anyone there. Cuillin would have gone balistic....not sure that she would follow up if there was anyone there tho!
