Soooo, Katie has been having tummy issues lately. She vomited once a day, three days in a row, and yesterday had really runny poo. She has been panting hard during our walks and seems to take a while to recover once we get home. Otherwise she was eating, drinking, and behaving as normal. I took her to the vet yesterday and she has no fever, no obvious blockages in her gut, and seemed totally fine (of course - I looked like a hypochondriac). The vet gave me some probiotics to give Katie and a worming tablet and then the dog proceeded to fart all evening and it was putrid! Today her poop is more solid and she hasn't thrown up, so I am thinking she may be a little better. The vet thought she might have eaten something that did not sit right, which is entirely possible because she eats EVERYTHING, but obviously she does not have a major blockage. Anyone else's dog ever have vague symptoms like this?

Oh dear, this is typical Labs I`m afraid , they do eat all sort of disgusting things with the resulting smells and upset tums , it sounds like she is over the worst now though if her poo has firmed .
My Sam has a tendancy to eat all manner of offending putrid things if I`m not watching him very closely , I have worked on the Leave It command and its now working , when I spot him doing it and thats the problem , we dont always see it until its too late ::)
He tended to have tummy issues as a youngster too but since I did gundog training with him , he is less inclined to search for yummy snacks :)
I actually give my two dogs probiotic yoghurt two or three times a week on their dinner , not masses of it , Sam has about two dessert spoons full , they seem to love it , whether it actually does any good I dont know but it cant do any harm :)

Yep - I agree - fairly typical response to an illegal snack!
Glad she is getting back to normal now.

Our favorites are poop but putrid fish are quite high up on the wish list, along with dead bunnies. Not many of the latter thankfully. I always worry what might have killed them in the first place :( although our farmers have dogs and they only leave out poisoned bait for rats, and these are in all well covered traps and inaccessible to the dogs.
Main reason we don't walk along the golf course edge now is Lilly once found a dead rabbit and played stay-away with it. Her "leave it" is not as robust as Sam's. I have no idea if they bait the rabbits, but not wanting to take the risk. Plenty of other safe walks around me.

We just got back from a very long walk and she seemed perfectly fine. In fact, she rolled in fox poo three times!!! Ugh, dogs and kids are so gross. I took her down to the lake for a quick swim to wash the poo off and she seemed back to her old self and not panting so hard. She knows the leave it command, but it is usually too late by the time I get to her.
