Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? More when the weather is better to be honest. We tend to use old towels over Lilly's bed(s) and wash them probably weekly but sometimes more sometimes less depending on the muck levels.
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Vet bed - best thing since sliced bread - I wash them every couple of days.
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? At least twice a week in winter , can be more if its really muddy , once or twice a week in summer , Millie has Vet bed in her wicker basket, Sam doesnt like it and just has a huge duvet with a washable cover. I also use throws on the sofa which are washed every other day , sad really :
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat?
Millie has Vet bed in her wicker basket
I don't think I have ever seen Vet bed, can you line plastic dog beds with it Kate?
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Yes Helen , its like a fleecy type of material , hypo allergenic and dries really quickly , Millie loves it but Sam hates being too hot in his bed x
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? It may be an old wives tale but I was always told that dogs preferred their own scent which was destroyed on washing? Roger
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Never heard of that Roger, but I know I can't stand the smell and my dogs love a newly washed and tumbled dried warm bed to jump straight back into
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Blankets, fleeces, towels and mat covers are usually "used" once and washed at the end of the day. By "used" I mean spread over a bed to protect it from mud, kong debris, or dampness on return from hydro. The big memory foam beds get a good Hoover twice a week and the covers washed once a month. His mat crate cover is waterproof and gets sponged down and then dried once a week.

However, I agree it is easier to bear if you suffer from anosmia! Roger
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Definitely more when the weather is good and definitely not as often as once a week. Probably once a fortnight but I don't really worry about it..... ;D
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? ! wash the vetbeds and the covers of another bed, once a week. However, the covers on their Tuffy beds seem to stay clean and odour free (bit like vet bed but shorter) and those I wash once a month.
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Vet bed on top of a beanie bag. Gets washed once a month unless there's a reason to do it more ... we don't mind a bit of mud

Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Weekly or fortnightly, depending on how dirty there are. Towels, sofa blanket, cage mat etc get washed every 4-6days
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Well I think I am front runner in the 'Living in Squalour' stakes as Obi's bed only gets washed every couple of months...
Re: How Often Do You Wash Your Dog's Mat? Ummm, Im with you, Rachel. Honestly I haven't washed any of Simba's beds yet....but...really, they haven't got dirty. He got two of them at Christmas, and it's been cold and snowy outside, no mud. The other one we got soon after he became ours, but it's downstairs in the TV room, and by the time he gets there he is clean. Now that the spring melt has started, however, I will wash them once they start to look tatty. They don't smell (yet) so no need for it, in my opinion. All of them have removable, washable covers, so hopefully shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
